Garevac, May 5 2012
On May 5 2012, in the "Open House" in Garevac, CCA "Napredak" held their XVIII Assembly of the Head Council, and after that followed the Electorial Assembly of CCA "Napredak" - Branch Modriča. PhD Mišo Marjanović was named the President, and Davor Milardvoić the Vice-president.
Those present were introduced to the work and activities of the "Open House" Garevac. Open House is the proof that nearly ruined building can be transformed into recognizable object, both in Garevac and its surroundings. Apart from this, members of CCA "Napredak" visited the orchad and greenhouse that are maintined as the part of the "Open House" project. After this, members of CCA "Napredak" visited Parish church of Garevac, and the scaffold of Garevac's residents "Burića štala", in which over 500 people from Garevac and the area have been killed since the World War II.
In the occasion of the third anniversary of death of the late Msgr. PhD Marko Josipović, prelate, canon, provost of the Cathedral and provost of Theology and Dean of Theology, Holy Mass took place on Sunday, May 6 2012 in the Church of Birth of Blessed Virgin Mary in Modriča. Msgr. Josipović was a professor of philosophy at Vrhbosnian Catholic Theology in Sarajevo and the long time provost and dean. Msgr. Josipović had been active member of "Napredak" since its beginings and the member of the Head Council for two terms as well as the member of other "Napredak's" bodies. Msgr. Josipović passed away on May 8 2009, at the age of 61 and after 36 years of priesthood. Holly Mass was celebrated by Mag. Sc. Luka Brković, vicar of the parish of St. Joseph on Marijin dvor, together with PhD Niko Ikić, prof. Božo Odobašić and local vicar Reverend Ivo Kopić. Msgr. PhD Franjo Topić, President of CCA "Napredak" gave the homily during the Mass. He talked about St. Paul, who has, from the persecutor of the church, the greatest preacher of the Holy Gospel and wears the title "Disciple of Nations". Jesus said: Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? This means that Jesus equalizes himself with every believer. Msgr. Topić also emphasized that it is important for believers to accept John's recommendation: to "love not in words and tongue, but in acts and truth". With family and friends of late Msgr. Josipović, also present at the Mass were members of the Head Council of "Napredak" as well as the members of "Napredak's" Branch from Modriča, After the Mass, they visited and prayed at the grave of PhD Josipović in Gornji Kladari, near Modriča, and exchaned greetings with the familly of the deceased.
